B J Elder/WA St. Nicholas (Sinterklaas) Day

I see Trudy was the first to wish you all a Happy St. Nicholas Day. Although it is not a big celebration in our house, my mother is Dutch, her parents immigrated from Holland in 1908 & 1909. They were married here in the US the day after my grandmother arrived. I have enjoyed learning about some… Continue

Pam/NY The Infamous Office Christmas Party...

Last night was our annual Surgery Dept dinner/dance holiday party...and an official meet and greet the new dept chair and his wife. People-people-people don't drink and meet at the same party!!! Everything seemed to go as planned...nice cocktail hour followed by a lovely dinner. Then they started the karaoke and dancing. One of the "special office ass...istants" decided she would revert back to her cheerleading days of Many years ago. She starts turning cartwheels across the floor. Much to our s… Continue

I wanted to let all of you wonderful Quilt With Us Community members know that I'm currently doing a give-away on my web site blog that might interest you. I was fortunate enough to have a feature in the 100th issue of McCall's Quilting that is currently out on newsstands. I was even more thrilled when they asked me to design a project using English paper piecing!!! If you haven't seen the magazine, here is my "Patriot's Home" quilt.

Trudy/WI Happy St Nick!

Happy St Nick's everybody! I see many of you are diligently working on projects and preparing for the holidays! Keep those posts coming. A friend said she felt funny talking about that when she knew what we were going through right now, but I said I want to hear about it, to know life goes on as usual and that I will enjoy the preparations vicariously through all of you! As usual, the projects are beautiful and insipiring. I am sure the recipients of such thoughtful gifts will be ever appreciat… Continue

Cat Lady--MO Thank You!

I want to say a very special THANK YOU to all of you for the outpouring of prayers this past week following my Sister-in-law's death. They have been felt and greatly appreciated. Her wish was that her body/parts be donated for pancreatic cancer research. Her Celebration of Life family gathering will be this coming Saturday. Since many in her family are deaf, the formal (actually it will be very informal) service will also be signed. She was very involved with making the plans for the celebratio… Continue

Irene Gallway SNOW and Tell

It is finally snowing here in the East. (not that I'm excited about that). After all the very mild days we have been having I dreaded for it to come. But I have to admit that the snow gives me more Christmas Spirit. I did manage to get my tree and trimmings up last week. It's always a two day job and the older I get the harder it is to dig all that stuff out. I don't decorated near as much as I once did. I use to do every room but now I keep it down to two. And tearing it all down and putting it… Continue

Anita Piecing just for the fun of it

Now that we are moved and settled in for the winter I have been able to start piecing a quilt for me just because I want to. I put a picture of one of the blocks on my blog. You can see it at: http://anitas-bedofroses.blogspot.com . We had a dusting of snow this morning and a chance for flurries every day this week. It's soup and stew weather for sure. I've also managed to find time to make new curtains for the bedroom, kitchen and living room. The cats have settled down and are happy to not be… Continue

Jeananne Cox It's Beginning!

I am new to this site and have been really enjoying it......and the Christmas rush is beginning! I have been working on small projects for quite a few months, but now I am having to turn up the speed..... I just purchased a Christmas Quilt Kit a few weeks ago from Connecting Threads...I have never ordered from them before, but I must say I am really impressed with their fabric and directions so far and as far as it being a kit the ample amount of material they provide. This tree skirt quilt is f… Continue

Vicky Girten/MO Back to Quilting

Back to quilting. I have finished my embroidery for Christmas and gifts. I finished a Nurse hanging for my neice who is a nurse in AZ. She works in a hospital 3 days a week and is a school nurse 2 days a week. I am so glad that the embroidery is done. I had a lot of trouble with stablelizer this time. I have tried a few different kinds to wash away or tear away. Some of them have been a real mess. I has been very cold here. We are expecting snow the middle of the week. The next couple of weeks… Continue

Paula/TX,LA Gingerbread

Did some Christmas shopping today and was pretty successful. Most times I never find what I am looking for. Now I have gingerbread cupcakes in the oven to take to friends' house where we are invited for dinner before we leave Lafayette. Just feels like the season for gingerbread. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Continue

Janet Espeleta Christmas potluck w/my guild

My guild in Columbia, MO had a potluck today for both the day chapter & the night chapter & it was so nice. Good food & good company. It is cold although we haven't had any snow yet here in Mid-MO, which is kind of strange considering how much TX & LA got! My 2 dgds, along with their parents, will be walking in a Christmas parade here in Boonville this afternoon so it would be nice if it were just a smidgen warmer, but guess we will just have to bundle up really good. They are go… Continue

Sunshine/Mi and another

this was quilted a couple of months ago... just needed the binding done so I started it last night and finished it up this morning. It will go to the local homeless/women's shelter along with a couple of other smaller quilts. It's a wee bit narrow but I think it will work for a young teen or even as a lapquilt for an older gentleman.

Betty HH Quilting with Essential Thread

I have finally tried my Essential thread from CT. I ordered some spools a few months ago to finish out an order to get free shipping. I don't know why but I kept forgetting to use it. I am using it to machine quilt and it works really well and does not cause as much lint build up as the brand I had been using. I have also used it for a little bit of hand work and it worked great for that also. A friend had been having trouble with thread for her mid arm quilting machine, so I gave her a spool of… Continue
